Executive Board
Michael Fineman
President
As President, Michael is responsible for leading the strategic initiatives of the YPC Foundation and guiding its board recruitment efforts. Prior to taking this role in the YPC Foundation, Michael has been actively involved with the Young Professionals of Chicago since 2006 and served as its President in 2009 and is now the organization’s Executive Director.
In addition to YPC, Michael currently serves on the Auxillary Board for the American Red Cross of Greater Chicago and the Junior Board for NFTE (National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship).
Michael is an associate at Maranon Capital, a lower middle market investment firm that focuses on investing debt and equity capital in partnership with management teams and other private equity firms. Michael graduated from the University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management, with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and Accounting.
When Michael is not working on YPC initiatives, he is volunteering for a variety of non-profit organizations, grabbing drinks in the Gold Coast, watching the Cubs/Bears/Cornhuskers and playing golf. Michael was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska.
Fred E. Cadena
Vice President, Finance
As Vice President of Finance, Fred is responsible for leading the fundraising initiatives of the YPC Foundation including donor development and event based fundraisers. Prior to taking this role in the YPC Foundation, Fred has been actively involved with the Young Professionals of Chicago since 2007 and served as its Vice President of Operatons in 2009 and is now the organization’s President.
Professionally, Fred is Vice President of Margin for optionsXpress, Inc. OptionsXpress provides internet-based options, stock, bond, mutual fund, and futures brokerage services to retail and instructional customers both in the United States and internationally. Its brokerage platform delivers various trading tools, which allow retail and professional investors to identify, analyze, and execute a range of investment strategies.
Prior to working at optionsXpress Fred was on the retail side of the street at Edward Jones Investments; and held prior management roles at Providian Financial and Global Research and Recovery.
When away from YPC and the office, Fred loves to cook, travel, workout, and enjoy all the city has to offer.
Fred was born in Mexico City, and raised in Texas.
Erin Underwood
Vice President, Administration
As Vice President of Administration, Erin is responsible for coordinating the application process for both board members and grantees. Prior to taking this role in the YPC Foundation, Erin has been actively involved with the Young Professionals of Chicago and served as its Director of Fundraising in 2009 and is now the organization’s Vice President of Programing.
Erin works for The Chicago Dental Society in exhibits and finance and helps coordinates its Midwinter Meeting, one of the largest dental conferences in the United States. She graduated with a degree in Communications from Western Michigan University and has been involved in planning many different types of events for over four years. Erin has lived in the Gold Coast for over three years now and has grown to love the city of Chicago.
In her spare time, Erin enjoys to spending time with family and friends, exploring Chicago and traveling as much as possible.
